LONSIE MAY is a true blue Australian success story with a rich history of generational fashion and design, which started back in 1919.

Jessie May was born in 1909 and passed on her knowledge and passion for fashion before her passing in 1994. At 10 years of age, Jessie was sewing for a family which had 11 children.

​

Jessie May won prizes at the Cleve Show in South Australia for her smocking and embroidery. This success led to Jessie sewing for people in the country town where she lived.

​

Jessie passed on her love of sewing to her daughter, Lonsie, teaching her to sew dolls clothes when she was just 4 years old.

​

Lonsie did all her own sewing during her teenage years and now with her niece and business partner, Kali Holmes, Lonsie is designing and sewing the 'Swing' shirts.

 

Kali has been modelling fashion since the age of 8 and is now a business developer and entrepreneur. Kali partnered with Lonsie in 2012 to form 'Lonsie May'.

Our label, LONSIE MAY is a testament to Jessie May, reflecting her charm, wit and stunningly vibrant personality. Jessie was alluringly beautiful too and the perfect lady and friend to all those lucky enough to be touched by her presence.

 

For over 100 years, our family has been creating ready to wear garments that exhude our passion for fashionably modern clothing. Wear it and most of all enjoy its frivolity.
